Booking and Payment Procedure
If you wish to hire an item from us, please telephone (preferably) or email us to confirm availability.
If the item is available for hire, we will require immediate payment equal to one day’s hire of the equipment. This payment will book and reserve the equipment for you.
On the day of delivery, we will require a deposit as shown on the table of charges for each item of equipment. This deposit is most conveniently paid by means of a pre-authorisation of a credit or debit card.
At the end of the hire period, all charges become payable. The payment made upon booking will be deducted from the total hire charges and the remaining sum will be taken from the pre-authorisation amount. The remainder of the pre-authorisation sum will be reinstated to you.
For example
You wish to hire a Mini digger for a period of 5 days.
Upon booking, you pay £65 + VAT, the current charge for a one day hire of a Mini Digger, by credit or debit card.
On day of delivery, we obtain a pre-authorisation on the debit or credit card of £750, this being the required deposit for a Mini Digger.
At the end of the hire period, all charges become payable. The payment made upon booking will be deducted from the total hire charges and the remaining sum will be taken from the pre-authorisation amount. The remainder of the pre-authorisation sum will be reinstated to you.
In this example, we will assume that there are no charges for delivery or fuel:
The rate for a 5 day hire is………………… £275 + VAT (£323.13 incl)
Previously paid upon booking………………£65 + VAT (£76.38 incl)
Balance outstanding is………………………… £275 - £65 = £210 + VAT (£246.75 incl)
Pre-authorisation taken on day of delivery… £750
End of hire reinstatement of pre-authorisation (£750 - £246.75 = £503.25)
